GNERC HISTORY – FILM

Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission has a 25-year history. The Commission’s functions, regulations and roles have undergone a significant evolution throughout this period. The documentary film – 25-year History of the Commission, visualises the path the Commission went through from its establishment up to present. The film describes the development of the energy and water supply sectors, as well as the role and impact of the Commission’s regulations.

ENERGY TRAINING CENTER OF GNERC – ONGOING PROJECTS

In 2022 the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission established the Energy Training Center which offers certified training courses to different groups of stakeholders having interest in the energy sector. Participants of trainings have the opportunity to get introduced to regulatory aspects of the energy regulation and strengthen knowledge on consumer rights, tariff calculation, market functioning, quality of service etc. Energy Training Center also actively cooperates with international donor organisations and is in the process of implementing several projects.

DEPARTURE/VISIT TO ZHINVALI HYDROPOWER PLANT ZHINVALI HPP

Zhinvali HPP with 130 MW installed capacity is located 60 km away from the capital, in the eastern part of Georgia. It has been put into operation in 1982 after a 10-year construction period. Currently, Zhinvali HPP is owned and operated by Georgian Water and Power LLC. The participants will have an opportunity to visit the hydropower plant and acquire detailed information about its technical parameters.

SIGHTSEEING IN MTSKHETA, SVETITSKHOVELI CATHEDRAL, JVARI MONASTERY

Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities of Georgia and its former capital. It is located approximately 20 km (12 mi) north of Tbilisi. Due to the historical significance of the town and its several outstanding churches and cultural monuments, the "Historical Monuments of Mtskheta" became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
